Series

There are 3 Vintage Baby Dresses in this series. Each one telling its own story of who wore it and the things it heard. Some stand alone as sculptures and some are wall hangings.

Most of the embellishing of each dress happens after it is dipped in hot beeswax. The story starts to form the minute the dress is cooled. A Broken Heart? An Abandoned Bird’s Nest, complete with unhatched eggs? Bottles Filled with Words Never Spoken? Melted Dreams?

I find great joy in vintage photos, hand sewing and the eeriness of the beeswax giving the fragile fabric a translucent appearance.

These dresses, and their quiet stories, literally take my breath away.
